Where do I start!!! It was wonderful!
You know the first surprise was the amount of information that Rita (archivist) found. We are still sorting through all of that.
Then Elena is wonderful! Of course her knowledge of Riga was great. I wish I could remember all the things she told us about each building, the people of Latvia etc. The city and the countryside are just beautiful. She just went over and above to make sure we saw the places where both my mother in law and father in law lived. There were not even my parents and I was a little overwhelmed!
I think my husband and children feel a little more connected to Latvia, thanks to you, Rita and Elena and the 2 drivers who were also helpful in locating these places way out in the country! (both days we were on unpaved roads, google maps is incredible though).
This started out to be a trip to Latvia, and I wanted a driver to help us find the 2 places outside the city. My husband did not think we would find anything about this family. He was happy to see the country his parents talked about. We never expected to end up with this wonderful trip.
