A full day True Sicilian Experience with a little touch of Hollywood – A Step Back in Time in Savoca
THE GODFATHER LOCAL TOUR and Forza D’Agrò.
Starting from your port (Catania) or hotel to arrive at and explore Savoca is almost like taking a step back in time. Although recorded with its present name in 1415 the town probably dates back to the first half of the 12th century when a Norman Fortress was built there. Savoca is not a tourist town, it is a simple every day local town. Here is where the movie Godfather was filmed.
While in town a must is the stop for a Lemon Granita at the famous bar “VITELLI” on the corner of the town.
Then make your way to the church of Santa Lucia where the scene of the wedding between Apollonia and Michael was shot! In town you can find fascinating catacombs of the Cappuccini convent.
From Savoca we will visit Forza d’Agrò which is without a doubt one of the best examples of a typical village of the Province of Messina which still conserves its medieval street layout and on all sides of the town you have the most incredible views. Driving down from Forza d’Agrò through a wonderful coast line, we will visit together the Piazza Belvedere (Lookout square) where you will have a breathtaking view of Isolabella (Beautiful island) and the Messina coast line.
We will then take you to the historical centre of Taormina where you will have free walking time in the town where you can admire the Greek Theatre from the 2nd century A.D. – Palazzo Corvaja , the most beautiful medieval building in town – Duomo di Taormina – the San Nicolò Cathedral square and Corso Umbero where you can do excellent shopping.
Back to port or hotel to arrive 1 hr before departure.

If not enough time, then we suggest to leave out Forza in order to enjoy some free Time in Taormina as well as Savoca. This way your clients won’t feel rushed and also have time to enjoy lunch (lunch not included). Anyhow the car, driver & guide will be at disposal to do the entire above tour at below prices.
2. Bar Vitelli now only open in high season (dates vary). They made a lot’s of money and do not work year round. Some of our clients asked for an old lady in the bar, she passed away a year ago.
3. The vehicles will be authorized to pickup your clients inside the port.
However to guarantee this, since paperwork procedures at times are slower in Sicily we would need to have the booking confirmed at least 1 month prior to the arrival date to have all port entrance authorization ready in time (this applicable only for Sicilian ports).
