Day 1: Arrival - Tromso City Sightseeing by car.

You will meet your driver at the Tromso airport upon arrival. He will then proceed to take you to your accommodation. Your private guide will meet you at your accommodation, he will take you city sightseeing around the city of Tromsø that has been built from 1795 on the island of Tromsøya and its surrounding. The city has, also called the Gateway to the Arctic, been throughout history the start for several Polar Expedition. Today it is the largest Norwegian city above the Arctic Circle with a university and a vibrant life.

Tromsø University Museum was founded in 1972 and is North Norway’s oldest research institution. The museum was incorporated in Tromsø University in 1976. They have two research sections: Natural Sciences and Cultural Sciences. Each section has large collections documenting more than a century of research in the north. They have two teams catering for the public and for research outreach respectively.

During the sightseeing we will visit Tromsdalen Church, also known as Ishavskatedralen (The Arctic Cathedral) was dedicated on November 19, 1965. Architect Jan Inge Hovig succeeded in creating a masterpiece. The cathedral is a landmark visible from the Tromsø Sound, the Tromsø Bridge and when landing in Tromsø by aircraft. The 11 aluminium-coated concrete panels on each side of the roof provide the cathedral’s form. The main entrance on the western side is surrounded by a large glass façade with a pronounced cross. The fantastic glass mosaic on the eastern side was added in 1972. The tour will also include a visit to the Cable Car.

The Cable Car is Tromsø’s most popular tourist destination. From the large outdoor terrace, you can enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of Tromsø and the virtually endless sight of islands, fjords, mountains and the open sea. If you look in the other direction, you will see the majestic mountain Tromsdalstinden, which towers 1,238 m above sea level. Your day ends at your accommodation.

Day 2: Private Husky Safari - Snowmobile tour to Lyngen.

We will go for a dog sled trip on Kvaløya, one of Norway’s largest islands. See great views of the mountains surrounding Tromsø and towards the Bals - fjord and Malangen peninsula. With about one hour of dogsledding you also get to meet 350 four legged friends up close and spend some time with the puppies.

After the ride you will be served a hearty meal of Bidos in the camp around the fire.

We will then go for a drive to the Lyngen Alps where you will be provided clothes and training before enjoing an exciting 2,5 hours Snowmobile safari surrounded by the beautiful fjords and mountains of the Lyngen Alps. This exhilarating snowmobile tour takes you from fjord to mountain starting on easy ground, then becoming more varied, following a well-established trail.

After you have explored on the snowmobile you will be served a warm meal before heading back to Tromso.

Your day ends at your accommodation.

Day 3: Private Northern light hunt.

It’s time to go hunt the northern lights. You will meet your guide at your accommodation he will provide thermal suit and shoes, now you are ready to chase the lights. During the tour you will be served a hot meal and enjoy it by open fire.

In northern latitudes, the effect is known as the aurora borealis (or the northern lights), named after the Roman goddess of dawn, Aurora, and the Greek name for the north wind, Boreas. Your guide will take a professional photos of you and the lights if you are interested. He will also provide tips, tripods and tricks how you are able take good photos with your camera.

Your tour will end at your accommodation.

Day 4: Reindeer safari & Sami culture - Overnight stay at Sami kamp with northern lights and Dogsledding (day after).

Today you will go reindeer sledding, your guide will pick you up at our accommodation. Before you sit down for a hot meal of traditional food served in a Sami tent (Lavvo) and listen to songs and stories of the Sami people you will go for a reindeer sledding. You can easily imagine the nomadic lifestyle of the Arctic Tundra while taking in the sights of mountains and Fjords.

Your host will then drive you to Sami kamp where you will have an overnight stay. You will learn how the Sami people have spend their nights for generations.

You will experience local dinner with other people before waiting for the northern light to appear. While you wait the guides and huskies will entertain you until they hopefully appear, if they do not you can enjoy the Arctic atmosphere in the Aurora camp.

Your day ends in your private Sami camp where you will sleep on a reindeer skins inside sleeping bags.

Day 5: Dogsledding at Sami Kamp – Private Snow trekking.

After a good night sleep and breakfast at the Sami Kamp you will go for a husky ride. You are able to choose to sit in the sled or drive your own team of huskies where you will learn how to handle our own team of huskies. The friendly barks of the huskies welcome you to the farm and once you depart from the farm on the sledges the dogs quiet down and get to work. They love to run! For you it is time to enjoy the surrounding nature and the sledge ride in silence.

After the dogsledding tour you will have lunch at the camp before you head back to Tromso.

The area around Tromsø offers a wide range of hiking possibilities by snowshoes. You will go with your guide to a camp where you will be provided snowshoes and warm clothes if you need it. Your guide will choose with you a suitable route and bring some warm drinks. The mountains offer possibilities for a great day outdoor, seeing the view over the Tromsø and Balsfjord. After the tour, you’re welcome to relax by the fire in the camp.

Your day ends at your accommodation.

Day 6: Departure.

Your driver will drive you to the airport aiming to be around 2 hours before departure.
