| Description: Langshott Manor is a beautifully restored Grade II Elizabethan timber framed central chimney house of the 16th century. Additions were made in the late 1700's and again in the mid 19th century. It is believed that a much earlier house occupied the site, which would have been moated, before the present Manor House was built 400 years ago. While less than 10 minutes from London's Gatwick airport it is tucked away down a quiet country lane and set amidst tranquil gardens and ponds. Guests receive the warmest welcome and old fashioned hospitality. Langshott Manor has oak panelled living rooms with log fires and the award winning (Two AA Rosettes) restaurant offers hearty food and a selection of fine wines. For guests without a rental car, complmentary transportation is provided to Gatwick Airport on the day of departure. 2 "Red Stars" from the Automobile Association. Location: From M23 take exit 9 to Gatwick Airport. Follow A23 signs to Redhill along a dual carriageway past Airport South and North Terminals. At next major roundabout (Esso petrol station on left) turn right to Horley on A23. Continue on this road straight through traffic lights until you reach a large roundabout with a Shell garage in the center and The Chequers Thistle Hotel on your left. Take the third exit (beware sharp turn off) into Ladbroke Road. Langshott Manor is located after approximately three quarters of a mile on the righ hand side at the end of this road. Room Bedding: All the 22 bedrooms are individually decorated and beautifully appointed with all the modern facilities. Split over three areas the rooms are named after Castles, Gardens, Racecourses in the local area, and King Henry VIII with his six wives. The Castle rooms in the manor have all got quirky shapes and designs because of the walls, beams, and shapes of the three separate phases of building represented in the main house. The Garden rooms are in the bigger side of the old Victorian Mews. Three of these have their own small terraces and Gardens that make lovely venues for breakfast on warm summer days. The smaller Racecourse Mews has three rooms that overlook the fields that come right up to the Manor on the north side. All the rooms have wonderful Egyptian Cotton Sheets and Luxurious towels and robes. The big baths and luxurious bottles of bubble bath ensure that the feeling of pampering continues. The trouser press, safe, hair dryer, clock radio and mini-bar ensure that the modern conveniences are not forgotten amongst the old world hospitality of the Manor. There is a "no smoking" policy in the bedrooms. Activities: Langshott Manor is a perfect stopover when using Gatwick Airport and it is also a base from which to explore the southeast of England and London. |
