hilltop towns and experience the rich cultural legacy of the great art masters
on this Tuscany, Umbria, and Florence tour. Step back into the Middle Ages in
villages such as Siena, Monteriggioni, and San Gimignano. See amazing frescoes
and art in cathedrals in Perugia and Spoleto, as well as in the Basilica in
Assisi where St. Francis is buried. Enjoy the refined sights in Florence,
including Michelangelo’s sculpture of David. Tour the Uffizi Gallery with an art

Day-by-Day
Itinerary
Day 1: Medieval Monteriggioni
Tour begins at Rome Leonardo da Vinci Airport in
Fiumicino one hour after the arrival of Tauck-selected flights. Drive
along country roads lined with sunflowers and cypress trees to your hotel in the
medieval hilltop village of Monteriggioni. Get to know your travel companions at
the welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2: San Gimignano
sights
Visit San Gimignano, one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Tuscany. View
towers built as both private fortresses and as symbols of wealth, and visit
Piazza della Cisterna. In your free afternoon, perhaps take a bike ride through
the Tuscan countryside.

Day 3: Explore Siena
Travel to Siena, built atop seven hills. Join a local expert for a walking tour
of the town’s medieval sights, followed by lunch with a wine tasting. Continue
to Florence for a dine-around offering a selection of Tuscan restaurants.

Day 4: Art in Florence
An art historian presents the history of the artistic masters in Florence before
taking you on a guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery. Gaze in wonder at works by
Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Michelangelo, Sandro Botticelli, and more. Chose
among many museums in your free afternoon for your own Florence tour.

Day 5: Statue of David in
Florence
At the Galleria dell’Accademia, marvel at Michelangelo’s marble statue of David
standing nearly 17 feet tall. Savor the culinary delicacies at the central food
market in Florence. The rest of the day is free.

Day 6: Tuscan cooking

Travel to the Etruscan hill town of Cortona, featured in the movie, Under the
Tuscan Sun. Take a walking tour through the maze of medieval streets, and stop
at the Museo Diocesano to see some fine paintings. Learn about the cuisine of
Tuscany at a cooking demonstration and lunch at a gastronomic school in a
15th-century house.

Day 7: Spoleto and Assisi
Travel to Spoleto, an Umbrian hill town, for a guided walk through its historic
streets. Admire the newly restored 15th-century frescoes in the Cathedral of
Santa Maria Assunta. Visit the medieval town of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage
Site. A highlight is the Basilica di San Francesco, the burial place of St.
Francis, the beloved patron saint of animals.

Day 8: Discover Perugia
On a guided tour of Perugia, take in the 15th-century Oratorio di San
Bernardino. View the cathedral, where a Renaissance painting is credited with
miracles, and two popes are buried in the transepts. Enjoy free time, and the
evening farewell dinner.

Day 9: Ciao Italia
Tuscany, Umbria, and Florence tour ends at Rome
Leonardo da Vinci Airport in Fiumicino 2 1/2 hours before the departure of Tauck-selected
flights. If you are departing at other times, you must secure your own
transportation. If you are departing on a flight before 12:00 noon, you must
depart Perugia very early (pre-dawn hours) for the airport.

Need to Know
Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars.
Hotels – All hotel accommodations are
included. Two-bedded rooms with private bath are reserved in most hotels.
Quadruples and triples are usually a two-bedded room plus one rollaway cot,
where available, and are not recommended for comfort. Quadruple accommodations
are available only on select itineraries. On some itineraries, rollaway cots may
not be available and triple and quadruple accommodations must make use of
existing bedding. At some properties in Europe where rooms and beds are small, a
triple may be accommodated in a single and double-bedded room. Connecting and
adjacent rooms are by request only and are not guaranteed. For safety and
security purposes, at time of booking, room accommodations for children under 18
years of age must be made in the same room as an accompanying adult.
Child/Adult Pricing
Children under 18 must be booked in a room with at least one adult. Quadruple
accommodations are not available for four persons 18 and older. To qualify for a
child discount, the child’s birth date must be provided at time of booking.
Meals – Most meals are included as
specified in the itinerary. Meal codes are: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.
Transportation – All motor coach and rail
transportation within the Tuscany, Umbria and Florence tour are included.
Gratuities Included – All necessary
gratuities for luggage handling, bellmen, doormen, dining room servers,
housekeepers, local guides, rail crew, drivers and Tauck Directors are included.
Tauck Director – Each Tuscany, Umbria and
Florence tour is conducted by a Tauck Director who remains with the group
throughout the duration of the tour. Your Tauck Director is a professional,
fully-trained employee of Tauck.
No Options Sold – With the exception of
select options detailed in the itinerary, Tauck’s price includes entertainment,
special dinners, sightseeing and most activities. Tauck Directors sometimes
assist with information on other free-time activities, but will not sell you any
“extras.”
Airfare to the tour departure point and from the
tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from Tauck
for travel originating in the United States.
Hotel Rooms Before or After Tours – Due
to time schedules and the possibility of flight delays, many guests prefer to
make hotel arrangements for the night preceding their Tuscany, Umbria and
Florence tour. As a service, Tauck will make reservations before or after your
tour upon request. Reservations are on a space available basis and must be
booked through Tauck; charges will be added to your tour cost. Note: Airport
transfers are not included for these bookings. To arrange additional nights in
Rome after your Tuscany, Umbria and Florence tour, please discuss at the time of
booking.
Personal Expenses such as phone calls,
room service, alcoholic and bar beverages, mineral waters, soft drinks, laundry,
airline excess luggage charges and other optional incidental extras are not
included and may be significant.
Luggage Responsibility – Although every
effort is made to handle guests’ luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible,
assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal
effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline or
group carrier handling. It is important for your own self-interest and
protection that you make certain you have adequate insurance to cover these
