Tauck’s Norway tour takes in Geirangerfjord, the most famous fjord, plus many
more while cruising the dramatic coastline north to the Land of the Midnight
Sun. Cross the Arctic Circle, visit Europe’s most northern town, and see
Nordic traditions during your four-day voyage aboard the coastal ferry system
that has run for over a century. Also tour ancient fishing villages, the Art
Nouveau town of Ålesund, the royal town of Trondheim, and the historic city of
Oslo. See 8th century Viking ships, a 12th century Stave Church, and
fascinating museums.

Itinerary
• Indicates day of cruising
Day 1: Begin in Bergen
Norway tour begins at Bergen Airport Flesland
one hour after the arrival of Tauck-selected SAS flights. Travel from
the airport into seaside Bergen, boasting a 900-year seafaring history. Meet
your travel companions at the welcome reception and dinner.

Day 2: Bergen sights
Visit Troldhaugen, former home of Edvard Grieg, Norway’s foremost composer.
During your free afternoon, you may choose to take the funicular railway for a
panoramic view over Bergen’s coastline.

Day 3: Stave church
architecture
Visit Hopperstad Stave Church in Vik, an ornate wooden architectural
masterpiece built hundreds of centuries ago. Take a ferry to the farming
village of Fjaerland near the largest glacial area in continental Europe to
visit the Norsk Bremuseum. Your hotel in Loen overlooks another fjord, named
Innvikfjord.

Day 4: Cruise to
Geirangerfjord
Travel to Norangsvalley, ringed with dramatic cliffs. Then take a ferry cruise
through Geirangerfjord, one of the longest, deepest, and most scenic fjords in
the world. See the sheer, crystalline rock walls rising 4,500 feet from the
water, with waterfalls cascading over the edge, a Norway tour highlight.

Day 5: Legends of
Ålesund
Explore charming Ålesund, an important fishing port. It hosts glorious Art
Nouveau architecture, while the region features prominently in Nordic
mythology.

Day 6: Kingly Trondheim
Take a ferry to the town of Molde, and learn about the history of farming in
Norway at the outdoor Romsdal Museum. Travel to Trondheim, established in 997
AD and the seat of Norwegian kings for centuries.

• Day 7: Norwegian
Coastal Voyage
Visit the Ringve Museum to see its collection of musical instruments from
around the world. Board your Norwegian Coastal Voyage ship to cruise to the
Land of the Midnight Sun, stopping at more than 25 seaside towns over four
days. The ship has stabilizers for a smooth ride, and observation lounges to
take in the sights along the coastal route plied by ferries for over 100
years.

• Day 8: Cross the
Arctic Circle
Voyage north along the coast and cross the Arctic Circle. One of the ports of
call is Bodø, where you can visit the Norwegian Aviation Museum. Cruise
through the sharp peaks of the Lofoten Islands, where fishing villages date to
the Viking era.

• Day 9: Nordic
traditions and history
Stop in Harstad, a center of fishing and agriculture that is renowned for
strawberries. The next stop is Tromsø, considered the Capital of the Arctic,
known for strong Nordic traditions. Join a local guide, exclusive for Tauck
guests, to tour the Tromsø Museum and the Arctic Cathedral.

• Day 10: Royal North
Cape Club
Dock in Hammerfest for an early morning stroll. Take an overland excursion to
the North Cape, a cliff top towering above the sea that is Europe’s most
northern point. Enroll in the Royal North Cape Club.

Day 11: Northern
departure
Disembark the ship at Kirkenes, where you are only eight kilometers from
Russia. Your cruise and Norway tour continues with your flight to Oslo, the
country’s capital built on a large harbor.

Day 12: Viking ships
The artistic highlight of a tour of Oslo is the Sculpture Park featuring
life-sized sculptures made by Gustav Vigeland. Visit the Viking Ship Museum,
featuring well-preserved Viking ships and fascinating artifacts from the era
of the Vikings. Explore Oslo on your own in the afternoon, and attend the
farewell reception and dinner.

Day 13: Journey home
Tour ends at Oslo International Airport 2 1/2 hours before the departure of
Tauck-selected SAS flights. If you are departing at other times, you must
secure your own transportation.

Land / Cruise Price includes private
Tauck shore excursions, cruise fare, port charges, and gratuities to ship
staff.
Special Airfares – Tauck offers special
fares, for travel originating in the U.S., in coach or business class on SAS
departing various cities the evening prior to departure dates listed above
(subject to availability). Persons taking these flights will be met at Bergen
Airport Flesland. Persons arriving on other flights may need local
transportation to the first night’s hotel.
Additional Air Costs – Transatlantic
air and Kirkenes / Oslo flight (day 11) are additional. Persons using SAS
transatlantic are eligible for a Visit Scandinavia Fare between Kirkenes /
Oslo (approx. USD $170). Therefore, this flight is not included in the tour
price. Tauck offers special reduced round-trip fares on SAS from the U.S.
which include this flight (subject to availability). Persons not ticketed by
Tauck must have the same Kirkenes / Oslo flight included in their itinerary
and must purchase it on their own (approx. USD $300).
Need to Know
Cruise prices are per person in U.S. dollars.
All accommodations, motor coach and cruise ship transportation, sightseeing,
admissions, shore excursions and services of Tauck Directors, ship crew and
drivers are included.
Hotel Accommodations – Tauck’s price
includes all hotel accommodations with private baths. The Tauck standard is to
provide the best available hotels without sacrificing value. Although the
quality of accommodations may differ from place to place, this standard
remains uncompromised. Two-bedded rooms are reserved in most hotels. Triples
are two-bedded rooms plus a rollaway cot and are not recommended for comfort.
Meals – Most meals are included as
specified in the itinerary. Meal codes are: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.
Gratuities Included – All appropriate
gratuities for bellmen, luggage handling, doormen, dining room servers, local
guides and cruise ship staff are included
Tauck Director – Each cruise is
conducted by a Tauck Director who remains with the group throughout the
duration of the cruise. Your Tauck Director is a professional, fully-trained
employee of Tauck World Discovery.
No Options Sold – With the exception of
select options detailed in the itinerary, Tauck’s price includes
entertainment, special dinners, sightseeing and most activities. Tauck
Directors may assist with information on other free-time activities, based on
honest opinion, but will not sell you any “extras.” This means better value
and a more relaxed, pleasant experience for you.
Airfare to the cruise departure point and from
the cruise ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from
Tauck for travel originating in the United States.
Hotel Rooms Before & After Cruises –
Due to time schedules and the possibility of flight delays, many guests prefer
to make hotel arrangements for the night preceding their cruise. As a service,
Tauck will make reservations before or after your cruise. Rooms are reserved
on a space-available basis and must be booked through Tauck to qualify for
Tauck’s special rates. These hotel room charges will be added to the cruise
cost. Note: Airport transfers are not included for these bookings. To arrange
additional nights in Oslo, please discuss at the time of booking.
Tauck Director Gratuities – Unless
otherwise noted on the itinerary, the customary gratuity to the Tauck Director
is not included. Such gratuities should be extended on a voluntary, individual
basis and not as a group.
Personal Expenses such as phone calls,
room service, alcoholic and bar beverages, laundry, airline excess luggage
charges, visa fees, vaccinations, airport and departure taxes and other
optional incidental extras are not included and may be significant.
Luggage Responsibility – Although every
effort is made to handle guests’ luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible,
assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal
effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline
and group carrier handling. It is important for your own self-interest and
protection that you make certain you have adequate insurance to cover these
