Legends & Lore of Ireland (Family Travel)

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 – Arrive Shannon
Tour begins: Ireland’s Shannon Airport one hour after the arrival of our selected flight(s). Ireland bids you a hundred thousand welcomes as you begin your Ireland vacation. View the impressing Cliffs of Moher en route to your hotel, then join us for a welcome dinner this evening to meet the new friends who will explore the Emerald Isle with you.

Day 2 –Discover History and Dance a Jig
See eight centuries of history come to life at King John’s castle in Limerick. At Bunratty’s Corn Barn, enjoy a festive evening of Irish folksongs and traditional dances. You’ll always remember this delightful evening of fun as one of the best parts of your Ireland vacation.

Day 3 – A Lordly Mansion and Farmers’ Cottages
A ride down memory lane in an authentic jaunting cart brings into focus what life was like on the great Irish estate of Muckross House many years ago. Tour the grand mansion itself and visit the cottages of farmers as they go about tending to their lands and animals. Explore a bit of the lively town of Killarney on your own.

Day 4 – Seal watching on Kenmare Bay
Take a boat ride on Kenmare Bay to see one of the largest colonies of seals in all of Ireland. Enjoy a stop in the town of Kenmare, known for lace making and as the home of the prehistoric stone ring of the Druid’s Circle. Take in some of Ireland’s most spectacular scenery along the fabled Ring of Kerry today.

Day 5 – A Famous Stone and a Famous Rock
Succeed in the feat of kissing the Blarney Stone at Blarney Castle and you’ll receive the legendary Irish gift of gab. At the Rock of Cashel, explore one of the most fascinating archeological sites on the Emerald Isle. This massive stone fortress has symbolized royal and priestly power for over a thousand years.

Day 6 – Meet Irish Race Horses and explore Dublin’s Fair City

See pampered thoroughbred stallions and the lovely Japanese Gardens at the National Stud in Kildare before traveling on to Dublin, Ireland’s capital city. Exploring the boulevards and byways of beautiful, historic Dublin is a highlight of any Ireland vacation.

Day 7 – Read an Ancient Book
Discover more of Dublin today and visit Trinity College to see the ancient Book of Kells. Written by hand and ornately decorated by monks in the 9th century, the 680-page Book of Kells is one of Ireland’s great treasures. Say goodbye to Ireland at a farewell dinner tonight.

Day 8 – Journey Home

Inclusive Prices


Tour prices are per person in U.S. dollars.

Hotels – All hotel accommodations are included. Two-bedded rooms with private bath are reserved in most hotels. Quadruples and triples are usually a two-bedded room plus one rollaway cot, where available, and are not recommended for comfort. Quadruple accommodations are available only on select itineraries. On some itineraries, rollaway cots may not be available and triple and quadruple accommodations must make use of existing bedding. At some properties in Europe where rooms and beds are small, a triple may be accommodated in a single and double-bedded room. Connecting and adjacent rooms are by request only and are not guaranteed. For safety and security purposes, at time of booking, room accommodations for children under 18 years of age must be made in the same room as an accompanying adult.

Child/Adult Pricing
Children under 18 must be booked in a room with at least one adult. Quadruple accommodations are not available for four persons 18 and older. To qualify for a child discount, the child’s birth date must be provided at time of booking.

Meals – Most meals are included as specified in the itinerary. Meal codes are: B=Breakfast, L=Lunch, D=Dinner.

Transportation – All motor coach and rail transportation within the tour are included.

Gratuities Included – All necessary gratuities for luggage handling, bellmen, doormen, dining room servers, housekeepers, local guides, rail crew, drivers and Tauck Directors are included.

Tauck Director – Each tour is conducted by a Tauck Director who remains with the group throughout the duration of the tour. Your Tauck Director is a professional, fully-trained employee of Tauck.

No Options Sold – With the exception of select options detailed in the itinerary, Tauck’s price includes entertainment, special dinners, sightseeing and most activities. Tauck Directors sometimes assist with information on other free-time activities, but will not sell you any “extras.”

 

Not Included


Airfare to the tour departure point and from the tour ending point is not included. Airfare may be purchased from Tauck for travel originating in the United States.

Hotel Rooms Before or After Tours – Due to time schedules and the possibility of flight delays, many guests prefer to make hotel arrangements for the night preceding their tour. As a service, Tauck will make reservations before or after your tour upon request. Reservations are on a space available basis and must be booked through Tauck; charges will be added to your tour cost. Note: Airport transfers are not included for these bookings. When traveling with children, ensuring that everyone is well rested at the beginning of any Ireland vacation adds immeasurably to the joy of the trip. We recommend that you arrive in Ireland a day before the tour begins. We will be happy to make such hotel reservations for your family.

Personal Expenses such as phone calls, room service, alcoholic and bar beverages, mineral waters, soft drinks, laundry, airline excess luggage charges and other optional incidental extras are not included and may be significant.

Luggage Responsibility – Although every effort is made to handle guests’ luggage carefully, we cannot be responsible, assume liability or accept claims for loss or damage to luggage and personal effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline or group carrier handling. It is important for your own self-interest and protection that you make certain you have adequate insurance to cover these eventualities.
