Dalhousie Castle

Description:
Set in its own estate of forest and parkland, Dalhousie Castle was built over 700 years ago by the Ramsays of Dalhousie. Edward I, Oliver Cromwell and Queen Victoria stayed here. While dating from the 12th century, only the foundations and vaulted dungeons, now the location of the hotel's award winning restaurant with two AA Rosettes, remain from the original structure. The main parts of the present building were built in the 15th century. Scottish Tourist Board "4 Star", AA "3 Star", member of "Taste of Scotland".

Location:
7 miles south of Edinburgh. Take the A7 south through Lasswade and Newtongrange. Turn right at the junction with a Shell garage on the B704. Dalhousie Castle is located half a mile on the left. The entrance is on the right and back under the road bridge

Room Bedding:
27 bedrooms including 13 historically themed bedrooms are in the castle and 5 are in a hundred year old lodge on the castle grounds. The standard castle doubles have standard double or twin beds. You can stay in an Historically Themed Bedroom such as the Sir Walter Scott, the Sir William Wallace, the Robert the Bruce, or the Queen Victoria. Some of these themed rooms have king or queen size beds.
