St.Petersburg was founded at the estuary of the small Zayachy island on May 27,1703.
The Russian Tzar Peter the Great personally supervised the construction and named the city after his patron saint. In 1712-1713 the Tzar’s Court and the governmental offices moved there from Moscow and thus St.Petersburg became the capital of the Russian Empire. In 1918 the capital was transferred back to Moscow. St. Petersburg today is a city of major industrial enterprises, scientific centers, higher educational establishments, theatres and world-renowned museums. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

 

Program

Day 1 (Friday)
Arrival to St.Petersburg.
Transfer from the airport to the hotel.
Accommodation at the hotel.
Panoramic City Tour - all major city highlights in the course of a three hours tour including visits to Peter & Paul Fortress, the burial place of all Russian Emperors, and St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the forth highest cathedral in the world with a breathtaking design.
Free time.

Day 2 (Saturday)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Excursion to town of Pushkin (former Tsarskoye Selo) - a tour to the Catherine the Great Palace and a garden and park ensemble, Lyceum, which was attended by the Great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
Lunch at the local restaurant.
Return to the hotel.
Free time.
Cultural performance (Mariinskiy Theatre, Folkshow)

Day 3 (Sunday)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Tour of the Yusupov Palace - the richest of non-imperial of St.Petersburg, which was home of powerful Yusupov family and known as the palace of mysterious assassination of notorious Rasputin.
Lunch at the local restaurant.
Excursion to the Hermitage Museum - the Hermitage ranks among the world's major museums. Its collection consists of nearly three million art objects. Exhibits are displayed in the Winter Palace, as well as the Small, Old and New Hermitages. Concerts and ballet performances are given in the former Hermitage Theater. The Hermitage collection has six departments: West European art, the Antique world, primitive culture, Oriental culture and art, the history of Russian culture, as well as numismatics.
Return to the hotel.

Day 4 (Monday)
Breakfast at the hotel.
Airport transfer.
