Necker, on its
own 74-acre island, represents the ultimate in privacy and is available for
the exclusive use of a single family or party at one time, for occasions
such as milestone birthday or anniversary celebrations, family gatherings or
executive retreats. Accommodations, in a stunning 10-bedroom villa and three
separate houses, include sweeping ocean views. The Main House is the center
of casual social activity and includes indoor and outdoor dining areas,
handsome Balinese-style interiors for lounging and reading, and a games area
with a full-size snooker table and the latest table games. A staff of 42
pampers guests.
Necker Island is located at the northeastern extreme of the British Virgin
Islands, and is reached via frequent flights to Tortola or Virgin Gorda in
the British Virgin Islands, and from there by boat to Necker Island. Guests
flying into St. Thomas, U.S.Virgin Islands can be transferred to Necker by
helicopter at an additional cost.
The Main House, a majestic and airy villa with one-of-a-kind Balinese
furnishings and art, is home to ten guest rooms, each with terrace views
over neighboring islands and ocean. The spacious second-floor master suite
has its own jacuzzi and a large terrace with panoramic sea views. Three
additional Balinese houses, built in Bali, dismantled and then reassembled
on Necker Island, provide three other guest accommodations. They are a short
walk from the Main House. Native stone, huge hardwood beams and bamboo walls
and ceilings augment the Balinese feel.
It’s hard to imagine running out of things to do on Necker Island. Necker’s
more-than-ample staff is available to customize activities around the
island’s several lovely beaches, hiking trails, well-equipped sea-view
gymnasium, and seemingly endless watersports such as windsurfing,
water-skiing, sailing on hobie catamarans, Sunfish and Catamarans, fishing,
snorkeling or kayaking. Right off the Main House’s terrace there is a large
invisible-edge pool which appears to fall into the Caribbean, and the three
separate houses on Necker have their own pools. Our new beach pavillion
offers a dining area as well as a Beach pool with a waterfall and swim up
bar.

Meals are a centerpiece of any group’s Necker experience, served whenever
the group chooses and virtually wherever, including a formal evening buffet
by the sea or a champagne brunch on the terrace. A couple of Necker’s
specialties are Cocunut Tempura Shrimp on Banana Caper Relish, and Sambuca
Souffle with White Chocolate Ice Cream.
Necker has seemingly received as many accolades from discriminating

The cost of exclusive rental of Necker Island depends upon the size of the
group. Rates include 10 accommodations in the Main House and three Balinese
houses, all meals and drinks, the use of watersports equipment including
windsurfers, Laser, Sunfish and catamaran sailboats, water skis, sea kayaks
and snorkeling gear, boating excursions to other islands, and a local
Calypso band for one evening. A seven percent local tax is included, but a
service charge of 2 1/2 percent is additional.
