Any property is entitled to a little dusting off by the time it turns 90, but Elbow Beach was due for a more substantial overhaul. When it was built in 1908 as the first resort on Bermuda’s famous south shore, locals feared the next hurricane will wash it off the map. But it stayed put and grew, and saw its reputation both rise and fade as new owners and management teams took over. It is managed by Oriental Mandarin Hotels Group. Elbow Beach is a glittering gem of a resort, worthy of its perch overlooking one of Bermuda’s top beaches.
Part of the successful mix are the latest luxury amenities, including the fast "T-1" Internet connections from all the rooms in the main building, dine-around options at local restaurants and the island’s first butler service. In two years neighboring mansion will be transformed into a full-service spa for guests.

Strongest Selling Points
The wide, pink-sand beach at Elbow Beach is hard to beat. A natural reef close to shore keeps the waters tranquil, providing an easy snorkeling destination. It is possible the reef is responsible for causing the wreck of the Pollack Shields, a popular dive site. The resort’s proximity to Hamilton is another highlight.
